I would like to wish you a very warm welcome to my MP3 site at SoundClick.

I hope you enjoy my musical compositions, created especially for your listening pleasure.

About Easy Listening Music

I compose and perform authentic "Easy Listening" music. Some call it "Elevator" music. Mostly, it is background music, never to be intrusive to the listener. A performer of this genre must never call attention to him or herself, so it would not be a good match for anyone who is seeking the spotlight. Therefore, it is important to not get too "flashy" with compositions. The listeners and their privacy is the most important concern. The music itself is only to enhance their evening and their time together. You do not want to "pull" the listeners into the music. The less the music is noticed, the better one is doing his or her job. However, it still needs to be good music. This style of music has been termed "mindless" by some, but I can assure you from writing the scores, that it is anything but. I still score out all my music, by hand, on staff paper.

-- Ace Holiday
Why this name?
If you haven't guessed, Ace Holiday is a "stage name". As a child, my organ teacher's name was Ace Pancoast, and the organ I had was a Lowrey Holiday. In rememberance to both, I combined them as "Ace Holiday" for a name.
Do you play live?
I enjoy working in the studio and putting each of my sounds together individually, track-by-track.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The copyright issue has made it necessary for artists to write their own material. I enjoy listening to compositions that I have never heard before.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Certainly.
Band History:
I began playing organ back in 1965. During my teen years, I played in a band. Through my 20's and early 30's, I played solo organ -- mostly lounge and dinner-club gigs. I left music for family, home and work -- but promised myself I would return one day. Now that all the kids are grown and on their own, I returned on my 50th birthday. I'll be 52 on Jan. 1st, 2008.
Your influences?
My organ teacher, Ace Pancoast (1905-1991), who was the arranger for Dick Clark's American Bandstand from Philadelphia (he was the arranger of American Bandstand's theme song as well). The most important elements of music that he conveyed to me was how a good melody is "put together". He would point out the reasons WHY all the great songs were great songs . . . and that a great song is rarely an accident, and doesn't happen by chance.
Equipment used:
I use Roland arranger (EXR-7s), Yamaha organ (Electone), and a Lowrey console organ with Leslie speaker. I record to reel-to-reel tape, and still use vacuum tubes (telefunkens) for authentic era sound. I master tracks to my MasterLink 9600 stand-alone mastering unit. My occupation is holography, and I have been working on developing a spatial sound stage for my instruments in the recordings. My goal is to have each instrument placed throughout the volume of space in its exact location (not just left/right as in stereo, but forwards/backwards as well). Currently I must do all these calculations and adjustments by hand. It takes a long time!
Anything else...?
If my music makes you happy, then I'm happy too. Please leave a message on my message board, and I hope you come back again.

Sit back, relax and take a musical holiday with Ace.
