We are so excited that you have stopped by to visit and listen. The Abstract goal is to write music that is not limited to any specific genre. We perform as a rock band and are proud of our diverse fan base. We hope you will find merit in our work. It brings us great joy to share it with you. Our new CD "Checkmate is only weeks away!"
Why this name?
We were throwing around band names - most of them lame... and finally someone said " we need something abstract..." - Eureka!! We looked it up in the dictionary and presto...
Do you play live?
Yes throughout Central Florida - Abstract has played with Molly Hatchet, the Climax Blues Band, Georgia Satellites and Creed - An Abstract show is unpredictable. Over 2,000 shows later and it is has been quite the ride.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet levels the playing field - Now artists of all types can reach out and find their own listeners. Everyone may be heard - It is a wonderful time to be an independent artist. We have a lot of new music coming in 2007-2008 we hope you will follow our progress.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
We are always ready to have a discussion on such things - If the deal was benficial, we would sign.
Band History:
These are excerpts from the History of Abstract.
It was about September 1991, Kitzingen, Germany, A Puerto Rican, a Mexican, and a White guy got together over what was an arguably large bottle of 151 and formed a "musical" group." They had not yet learned to tune their instruments and yet they had a fire...
At some point Chico said, "We need a name for our band." Most of the suggestions were lame...
#1 band in the US Army '92 '93 '94. Those were good trips - rockin the freeworld for Uncle Sam... Oh yeah good times...
Strong German following (spent 5 years playing there in almost every city... )- The members have changed alot over the years, and yet the music remains Abstract...
