COFFEEMELODIE: - Soprano and Baritone, voice teachers, music educators, entrepreneurs, etc - all combined and CoffeeMelodie got created - http://www.pradichaya/coffeemelodie.aspx Pradichaya Gafaae Poonyarit - http://www.pradichaya.com Prior to her return to the US in July 2005, it was familiar to people to have seen Pradichaya Gafaae wearing the role of a managing director of an import/export sales marketing company in Bangkok, Thailand, along side with her singing in performances and concerts, and also teaching in her own voice studio P&R. In Thailand, She was a prominent figure with the Bangkok Opera since its inception, performing roles in several of that company's triumphant royal command performances, including: Donna Elvira, Miss Jessel, Papagena, Dido, as well as roles created specifically for her in two world premiere productions. She was also invited to take part in the 2003 concert marking the inauguration of the Thailand branch of the International Wagner Society, personally presided over by the composer's grandson, Wolfgang Wagner. Of her Donna Elvira, The (Bangkok) Nation's Jonathan Richmond said, Pradichaya Poonyarit...was the absolute star of the evening...her magic was going beyond the madness of the role by summoning tones of exquisite beauty. Following Turn of the Screw, Dennis Kiddy wrote, [Pradichaya Poonyarit] has a confident stage presence and formidable projection which were both put to memorable use. She has also performed as soloist in several concerts and oratorios, including Händel's Messiah and Mozart's Requiem. She was on the voice faculties of two of Thailand's most prestigious universities, and she has also produced her own opera and various concerts. More recently, she has performed in concert and performed the roles of Leonora in Il Trovatore and Adriana in Adriana Lecouvreur. In the beginning of 2008 she founded CoffeeMelodie - a performing arts organization that provides a variety of musical offers, include voice lessons, outreach programs for schools in the community, and performance opportunities for both fellow artists and for the community's enjoyment. Ralph Schatzki - http://www.ralphschatzki.com Ralph first became serious about his singing while at Oberlin College, where he first took private lessons and sang in the Oberlin College Choir, in which he was bass soloist for two years. He continued singing and studying voice while attending law school at Indiana University at Bloomington. Following this, he attended the Hartt School of Music, performing lead roles in several school productions- as well as with many professional companies- and participated in young artist programs with the Greater Miami Opera, Chautauqua Opera and Sarasota Opera companies. In 1991 he and his wife, along with their infant son, moved to Bangkok, Thailand. While maintaining a full-time job as a teacher at an international school, Ralph continued to sing, appearing in concerts with the Bangkok Music Society for more than a decade. He performed leading roles with the Bangkok Opera in almost every one of its productions, including several of its royal-command performances, from its inception in 2001 until his departure in 2005. He was also featured at Lyric Opera Malaysia and the Singapore Lyric Opera. He returned to the United States with his family in 2005, and has already performed several roles since his return, including Don Giovanni, di Luna, Tonio and Alfio.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Live performance gives us very special thrill and excitement. Both Ralph and I enjoy performing live immensely. We perform in opera productions, concerts, and recitals. We also reach out to school students and people in the community in order to educate and build the love in music through our Music Educational Outreach Program - http://www.pradichaya.com/outreachprograms.aspx We also run private voice teaching studio - http://www.pradichaya.com/voicestudio.aspx And, recently, we added Melodie-On-The-Go to bring music directly to music lovers - http://www.pradichaya.com/melodieonthego.aspx
Your musical influences
Our influences are the great operatic divas from the Golden era - from around 1940's - 1970's. We also are fortunate to have great teachers who have a lot of influences on us.
What equipment do you use?
I use my body, and my soul, and the air I breathe in.
Anything else?
An accompaniment - piano or orchestra always help!
