The Dark Horse of Hip-Hop. Stop sleepin on the kid, cuz Periodik is Hartford's top emcee. With great flow and punchlines that have people quoting every other line, P is very much the envy of all rappers. The fact that he's only 18 is even more of a reason to love this Puerto-Rican cat from CT.
Why this name?
I was in class trying to think of a cool rap name. After I went through like a dozen shitty ones I kept Periodik.
Do you play live?
I spit in front of people, battles in school, crowds of people that want to hear something. Anywhere really.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet lets underground cats like me and others have a chance to toss their music and let millions of people hear it.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yea, I mean practically every rapper would. But as long as you don't sell out and become just a tool for the label then it's all good.
Your influences?
Just underground hip hop heads from the past and present. Rakim, Big L, Talib Kweli, Jedi Mind Tricks, Big Pun, 2pac, Immortal Technique, Royce 5'9, Eminem and anyone else who does true hip hop music.
Favorite spot?
Puerto Rico hands down.
