Band/artist history
Dark Ages was founded in Belgium in the year 1997 by the brothers Yannick and Xavier Santens. During the early beginning they searched for a bassplayer that would fit musically and personally and found Koen Vanassche eventually. With this line up the demo "Lux Mortis" was recorded. A year later Glen Herman joined the band as a second guitar player. This made it able for the band to utilize more lead parts layered on top of rhythm-based guitarplaying. With him, the band went into the studio to record "The Shadowdomain". Around 2002, Xavier left the band to concentrate on some other musical projects which put the band mostly on hiatus considering the fact that he was one of the founding members and had been important for the band due to his drumming style. On top of that Yannick had already been living in Sweden for a while which complicated things a bit. Recently though Yannick finished mixing and mastering some recordings that had been made before which resulted in the EP "Choirs Of Damnation". The few reviews that have been done until now received the EP well. And since the final artwork took a while to be finished the band decided to make the EP listenable in the meanwhile. Influences of the band range from bands as King Diamond, Judas Priest and early Metallica to older thrash bands. Other bands that left their mark can range from Morbid Angel, Incantation and Angelcorpse to Norwegian and Swedish style black metal in general. Not everything is noticeable in the music for that matter but sometimes in spirit. The current line-up is : Yannick Santens : vocals, lead&rhythm guitar, acoustic guitar Glen Herman : Rhythm guitar Koen Vanassche : Bass guitar Fynnbrenn : live session drums
