Jones On The Jukebox

Becky Hobbs is one-of-a-kind. She is a gifted songwriter, as well as a captivating entertainer. She plays the piano like no other female on stage. High Energy best describes Becky, yet she can rope you in like an Oklahoma cowgirl with her poignant ballads. Her voice is unique. Becky has performed all over the world, including nine countries in Africa, and in Bosnia. She co-wrote the powerful "Angels Among Us," recorded by Alabama, which stayed on the Billboard Top Singles Sales Chart for over a year. She also co-wrote "I Want To Know You Before We Make Love," which went to #1 for Conway Twitty. She's written other songs recorded by Alabama, George Jones, Loretta Lynn, Emmylou Harris, Glen Campbell, John Anderson, Janie Fricke, Lacy J. Dalton, Moe Bandy, Shelly West, Helen Reddy, Shirley Bassey, Jane Oliver, and Ken Mellons. "The Beckaroo," as she is called by her friends, was born and raised in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She started playing piano and writing songs when she was nine years old and formed her own all-girl band in high school. Becky has been performing ever since. Her dreams took her to Los Angeles for 9 years, via Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she played in "Swampfox," a southern rock band. In 1981, Becky headed for Nashville, and shortly thereafter recorded a Top 10 duet with Moe Bandy, "Let's Get Over Them Together." In 1988, her critically acclaimed All Keyed Up album on MTM, then later BMG, brought us "Jones On The Jukebox," "Are There Any More Like You," and "Do You Feel The Same Way Too." Becky's "Talk Back Tremblin' Lips: video (Curb Records) went to #6 on CMT. In 1994, she released The Boots I Came To Town In album on Intersound Records, which included the haunting "Pale Moon," the rockin' Mama's Green Eyes (And Daddy's Wild Hair)" and Becky's own version of "Angels Among Us." Becky was named Cashbox Magazine's Independent Country Music Female Artist of the Year for 1994. In 1996, Becky married Duane Sciacqua, a talented guitarist/producer/songwriter. Duane played guitar with Glenn Frey (of The Eagles) and has also played with Paul McCartney and Joe Walsh, among others. He produced 1998's From Oklahoma With Love, which ranges from rockin' country to tender ballads and garnered a fantastic review in PEOPLE Magazine. Swedish Coffee & American Sugar was released by popular demand in Scandinavia in 2000 and has some of the most raw, honest songs ever written. Songs From the Road of Life (also produced by Duane) was released in 2005. It has songs about people, places, life, love, war & peace, including NO MORE WAR. Being a descendant of Nancy ward, Beloved Woman of the Cherokee (born approx. 1738,) it is only natural for Becky to carry on the quest for world peace. Becky's newest cd, BEST OF THE BECKAROO-PART 1 (released 2006) is a collection of Becky's most popular recordings, up to, but not including titles from "Songs From The Road of Life" album. There are 21 songs in all.....a real treasure for Beckaroo fans. Becky shares her gift of music by playing as many charity events as she can and performing at Country Music Festivals throughout the world. Her show is full of energy and heart. She pounds the fire out of the piano, and also plays the accordion and acoustic guitar. If you're lucky enough to catch her show, you better hang on tight. The Beckaroo's gonna "rock you to your roots!"
Anything else?
Beckaroo & Duane visited Becky's old high school friend, Hans Schmoldt and his lovely wife, Kathy, in Grand Junction, CO when Duane was playing Country Jam with Rodney Atkins. Rodney has had three #1's in a row, and each stayed at #1 for multiple weeks. It was a great concert (30,000 people) and Hans & Kathy rolled out the red carpet, with 2 fun-filled days of rafting down the Colorado, drinking in sky chairs looking out at the beautiful western skies, shooting bottles with a slingshot, and a catered dinner under the Colorado stars with fantastic pianist, Roy Hutchins entertaining.
