A pop/punk out of Los Angeles
3 Cards Short!
A brief history of 3 Cards Short! : In summer of 2002 former lead guitarist of band S.S.M. Chris Hawley had just experienced losing drummer and long time friend Bryan Ducre because of disagreements on Bryan’s skill. Chris fed up with S.S.M. decided he wanted to start a new band. This was the birth of 3 Cards Short! Chris did not know anyone who played the bass so he got close friend and guitarist Ramzy Cardoza to drop playing the guitar and start playing the bass. Chris would be the vocals driving the band and playing rhythm guitar. Ramzy would play bass and Bryan would play drums. They would come to record their first C.D. “The Mini-Bosses” in a matter of months since forming the group. Two years later the band had just taken a long hiatus and was starting to fade do to band members playing in other bands. Practices became less frequent and shows seem to just not occur. Until the three members Decided they needed one more factor in their power trio. To now make it a quartet. Chris had been playing drums in a band known as B.L.T. and decided to get bassist Julian to do another switch and start playing lead guitar. Since Julian already had 5 years of guitar experience it was not hard for him to pick it back up. This would lead to 3CS! Recording their second C.D. “13 Corazones” and would start a new life for 3 Cards Short!
Being a pop/punk band 3 Cards Short! has made their way up the charts of respect from West L.A. to Pasadena. Being only 18 the band has already played shows with bands twice to three times their age and held their own. Playing at places such as The Knitting Factory, The Larchmont, The Whiskey, The Henry Fonda Theatre, and numerous backyard Shows in South Central, 3 Cards Short! is rocking with the best/worst of them.
With Teen angst out of the picture 3 Cards Short! is focusing a lot more mature things than most pop/punk bands to date. Not only lyrically but musically they are keeping alive the true feel of pop/punk instead of toning it down to a now tear in the music industry. 3 Cards Short! has already moved it’s way into countless CD Players and Internet sites and they are not slowing down anytime soon.
